Contest regulations

  1. Everyone can submit an article given that he or she is not a member of the board of referees or organizer of the contest. Submissions by groups of people are encouraged.
  2. Articles must be written in English and must be connected with bioinformatics.
  3. Articles should be sent to: contest [at] bioinformatyk.eu. By submitting, the author states that he is copyright holder of the article. By submitting, the author also grants permission to the organizers to present the submitted article on en.bioinformatyk.eu permanently. The author however retains copyright of the text and may use it for his own purposes.
  4. All articles will be checked by one of the editors and subsequently published on en.bioinformatyk.eu. Eventually, the editor will request minor changes prior to publishing (especially regarding spelling or language).
  5. All submissions for the contest must be sent between April 1, 2011 and September 18, October 31, 2011 time zone of your choice.
  6. Published articles can be considered for the jury and readers prize unless the author decided that her/his article will not take part in the contest or will be considered only for one of the prizes.
  7. An international board of referees will select the best anp the second best article with restriction, that one person cannot receive both of these prizes.
  8. Readers can evaluate an article from the time it is published to November 13th November 30, by giving it from 1 (the worst) to five (the best) points. If the reader will vote after loging to the website and will leave a comment, points he/she has given will be multiplied by 2. The winner of the readers prize will be the author of an article with the greatest mean score. Only articles with the number of votes above median will be considered
  9. There are four prizes: The 1st (150$) and 2nd (50$) prize for articles selected by an international board of referees and a 50$ readers prize, all sponsored by the International Society for Computational Biology Student Council (http://www.iscbsc.org). There is also going to be a book prize (up to 300$) sponsored by the Dean of the Biological Faculty, Adam Mickiewicz University Poznan (http://biologia.amu.edu.pl). Eventually, further prizes will be added in the future.
  10. The competition results will be announced on November 15th December 1 2011.
  11. Decisions of the board of referees are final.
